PHOENIX – Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced Diego Ediel Chaparro was sentenced to prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking organization.
On December 1, 2021, police arrested Chaparro after observing him conduct a drug transaction in a parking lot. Chaparro was arrested with 45,000 fentanyl pills. Law enforcement conducted a search warrant and his home and located an additional 122,000 fentanyl pills, along with 6 kilograms of fentanyl powder, currency, and packaging materials.
Chaparro pleaded guilty to one count of Attempt to Commit Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Fentanyl) for sale, a Class 3 Felony. On April 20, 2022, a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge sentenced Chaparro to 3.5 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections.
The case was investigated by the Gilbert Police Department.
