COCHISE COUNTY – Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced today that 55-year-old Krista Michelle Conner of Cochise County a was indicted on one count of Illegal Voting and one count of Perjury for allegedly illegally casting the early ballot of her deceased mother during the 2020 general election.
Defendant Conner is alleged to have illegally placed a signature on the envelope of her recently deceased mother’s early ballot envelope and cast a vote on behalf of Caroline Jeanne Sullivan. Sullivan died approximately one month before Conner signed the envelope.
Under Arizona law, it is illegal to use power of attorney as a basis for any person to conduct any procedure or transaction concerning elections, including voter registration, petition circulation or signature, voter registration cancellation, early ballot requests or voting another person’s ballot.
Assistant Attorney General Todd Lawson is prosecuting the case. The investigation was handled by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office Election Integrity Unit.
Conner's next Court appearance is scheduled for February 7, 2022 in Cochise County Superior Court.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
