Attorney General's Office Secures 15+ Year Prison Sentence for Mesa Man Trafficking Fentanyl And Illegally Possessing Firearms

MESA – Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge sentenced convicted drug trafficker Calvin Coleman to 15.75 years in prison after her office prosecuted the case.
Coleman was indicted in December 2023 following the discovery of a parcel destined for Mesa, Arizona, with approximately 4.8 pounds of fentanyl pills inside. Investigators identified Coleman as the individual shipping and receiving illegal drugs. When agents executed a search warrant at Coleman’s residence, they located multiple firearms, fentanyl pills concealed in a baby formula container, dozens of prescription drugs (including Oxycodone), cocaine, and a scale.
Investigators also located recordings taken from Coleman’s bedroom which captured Coleman engaging in drug deals and displaying weapons in violation of the law. Coleman was in possession of an AR rifle, a Smith & Wesson handgun, an FN59 handgun, an ASAR 9mm handgun, and a Gforce Arms shotgun.
Before trial, Coleman fled Arizona in an attempt to avoid a conviction. However, the trial proceeded in Coleman’s absence, and Coleman and was found guilty by a Maricopa County Superior Court Jury on April 3, 2025, of Conspiracy, Transportation of Narcotic Drugs for Sale, Possession of Narcotic Drugs for Sale, Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, and five counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons.
Coleman was later arrested in Georgia and was extradited back to Arizona for sentencing. Coleman was sentenced on August 8, 2025, to a total of 15.75 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections.
