Attorney General Mayes Secures Multi-Year Sentences After Busting Drug Ring

PHOENIX – Today, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office announces that Michael Koontz, Jerome Francisco Borsch, and Holly Rochelle Dagnino have been sentenced to multiyear prison sentences for their participation in the trafficking of methamphetamine for sale following a long-term investigation by the Attorney General’s Office.

“These sentences serve as a clear message: those who choose to endanger our communities by trafficking dangerous drugs will be held accountable,” said Attorney General Mayes.

In April 2023, investigators at the Attorney Generals Office identified Koontz as a methamphetamine trafficker who sold illegal drugs to residents throughout Maricopa County and Yavapai County.

During the investigation, Koontz, and his associate Borsch, were determined to have trafficked 50 pounds of methamphetamine. One of their associates, Dagnino, was contacted by investigators after it was revealed that Koontz and Borsch arranged a meeting to sell her methamphetamine, and investigators seized two pounds of methamphetamine from her purse during a traffic stop.

On August 21, 2023, Koontz, Borsch, and Dagnino were charged with Conspiracy, Illegally Conducting an Enterprise, and Possession of a Dangerous Drug (Methamphetamine) for Sale in an Amount Over Statutory Threshold, with Koontz and Borsch being charged with six additional counts of selling methamphetamine.

On October 22, 2024, Koontz was sentenced to 8.25 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections. On May 22, 2025, Borsch was sentenced to 9.25 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections. On June 24, 2025, Dagnino was sentenced to 6.0 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections.
