Attorney General Mayes Responds to Court Order Requiring Trump Administration to Immediately Restore All Frozen Federal Funding

PHOENIX – Attorney General Kris Mayes released the below statement in response to a decision by the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island to enforce the court’s prior order preventing the Trump administration from implementing its freeze of up to $3 trillion in federal funding. The court orders the Trump administration to immediately restore all frozen federal funding.

We have won every single court order issued so far in our cases against the Trump administration. I will not stop holding the administration accountable until it starts complying with the rule of law. Arizonans should immediately feel the relief of millions in federal funding restored for public safety, public health, and low income families.

The decision follows a motion to enforce filed by Attorney General Mayes and other state attorneys general on Friday in light of evidence that the Trump Administration was continuing to block the disbursement of important state funding, including funding under the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure, Investment, and Jobs Act, and for the National Institutes of Health. Any Arizona nonprofits or government entities who continue to see funding frozen should alert our office.
