TUCSON – Attorney General Kris Mayes today announced that Baltazar Quintero-Bueno was sentenced in Pima County Superior Court on June 10, 2025, for multiple felony drug and weapons offenses tied to a major fentanyl trafficking operation.
Quintero-Bueno pled guilty to:
- Conspiracy to Sell a Narcotic Drug (Class 2 felony)
- Conspiracy to Possess a Narcotic Drug for Sale (Class 2 felony)
- Misconduct Involving Weapons – Possessing a Weapon During a Drug Felony (Class 4 felony)
- Illegally Conducting an Enterprise (Class 3 felony)
Between May and December 2024, Quintero-Bueno operated as part of a drug trafficking enterprise in Pima County, selling fentanyl pills and possessing large quantities of fentanyl powder and methamphetamine. On December 23, 2024, he was found in possession of approximately 73.3 pounds of fentanyl pills and multiple firearms, including a Ruger 9mm, while actively engaged in trafficking.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison, with all prison terms to run concurrently. He was also ordered to:
- Pay $4,500 to the State Anti-Racketeering Revolving Fund
- Pay $4,500 in investigative costs to the Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Forfeit multiple firearms used in the offenses
“My office will continue to work tirelessly to dismantle drug trafficking organizations that ship fentanyl to our communities,” said Attorney General Mayes. “Those engaged in illicit drug trafficking should be on notice that my office along with our law enforcement partners will find you and bring you to justice.”
The Arizona Department of Public Safety investigated this case and Assistant Attorney General Sabrina Lochner prosecuted the case.
