Attorney General Mayes Announces Prison Sentence in Child Sexual Abuse Material Case

PHOENIX – Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that Joseph Alfrey was sentenced to 8.5 years in the Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to three counts of Attempting to Commit Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, class 3 felonies and dangerous crimes against children and to one count of Possession of Narcotic Drugs, a class 4 felony. 

"Exploiting children is abhorrent and will not be tolerated in Arizona," said Attorney General Mayes. "My office will continue to prosecute child predators and protect Arizona’s kids.”

Joseph Alfrey was sentenced in Maricopa County Superior Court on October 29, 2025. Alfrey will serve on lifetime probation following his prison sentence. He will be required to be registered as a sex offender and participate in drug treatment and counseling.
