Attorney General Mayes Announces New Public Elder Abuse Registry

PHOENIX – Today, Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that the Arizona Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is publishing a new Elder Abuse Registry. The registry includes civil, criminal, and administrative actions involving vulnerable adults that have been reported to the Attorney General pursuant to A.R.S. § 46-457.

“I am proud to increase transparency and finally give aging Arizonans and their loved ones the information that they may need to make informed decisions about their care. I promised to protect our state’s seniors from fraud, neglect and abuse, and by publishing our Elder Abuse Registry, we are doing exactly that,” said Attorney General Mayes. “My office will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute senior abuse.”

The new Elder Abuse Registry is available to download from the AGO’s ‘Senior Abuse’ webpage. Clicking the link to view the registry shall be considered a written request for the public information contained therein.  The registry will be maintained and updated monthly by the AGO.

Protecting Arizona seniors from abuse and exploitation is an important priority for the AGO. The office provides information on scams and consumer fraud, takes legal and criminal action against those who prey on seniors, and supports legislation to protect seniors.
