Attorney General Mayes Announces Indictment for Fraud Scheme Involving Forged Financial Statements and Theft of Retirement Funds

PHOENIX— Attorney General Kris Mayes today announced that a State Grand Jury has indicted Daniel Droeg on four felony counts for an alleged fraud scheme involving forged financial statements and the theft of his clients’ retirement funds.
 
The grand jury returned a true bill on April 13, 2026, charging Droeg with fraudulent schemes and artifices, a Class 2 felony; theft of $100,000 or more, a Class 2 felony; and two counts of forgery, both Class 4 felonies.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Jordan Esser of the Attorney General's Criminal Division. The cause number is CR2026-006706-001, filed in Maricopa County Superior Court.

All defendants are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
