Arizona Attorney General’s Office Trains Law Enforcement Throughout the State

PHOENIX –  The Arizona Attorney General's Office (AGO) is committed to supporting local law enforcement officers, agencies, and communities across Arizona. Since 2015, the AGO has trained more than 3,000 officers from dozens of agencies, providing first responders with scenario-based drills and life-saving techniques.

Officers who enroll in the free training program earn proficiency skills credit with AZPOST, the Arizona Peace Officer Standards, and Training Board. Classes include instruction on Street Medicine involving downed officers and civilians, Tactical Field Care, Handgun and Carbine Proficiency, and administration of Narcan and CPR.

Instructor John Stevens is the Law Enforcement Liaison with the AGO. His extensive law enforcement background includes 25 years with the Phoenix Police Department and 23 years in the U.S. Navy. He currently serves in the reserves for both organizations.

Sgt. Stevens and retired Phoenix police SWAT officer, Trish Knudson travel the state, bringing the training programs directly to law enforcement agencies.

AGTV rode along with Sgt. Stevens and Knudson to check out one of their classes.

The wide range of training is open to all Arizona law enforcement officers, free of charge. Classes are offered in various locations throughout the state.
