Vaping and E-Cigarettes

Why is this an important topic?

Electronic cigarettes (E-Cigarettes) are battery-powered devices that function by heating a liquid into an aerosol that is inhaled by the user. The liquid solution can contain nicotine, flavorings, harmful chemicals, or other substances.

Because the brain experiences significant development during adolescence, nicotine use during this critical time can rewire the brain which can make it easier for youth to get addicted to other substances due to issues with impulse control.

E-cigarettes have only been around for the last decade and its popularity has grown just within the last few years. Because of this short timeframe we still don’t know what the long-term health effects are with the use of e-cigarettes. There is a knowledge gap among our youth about the potential dangers that come along with vaping.
