AG Brnovich Issues Scam Alert: Beware of Fake Lottery Scam

Phoenix – Attorney General Mark Brnovich issued a scam alert today warning Arizonans of an aggressive fake lottery scam targeting seniors. The scam starts with a phone call from a person who falsely claims to be affiliated with Mega Millions. Seniors are told they’ve won the Mega Millions lottery and are asked to pay thousands of dollars upfront in order to claim their prize money. The scammer even offers to pick the victim up and drive them to the bank.

AG Brnovich Issues Scam Alert: Scammers Impersonate Attorney General’s Office

Phoenix – Attorney General Mark Brnovich today is warning Arizonans of an alarming new phone scam in which con artists pose as representatives of the Attorney General’s Office to steal money from consumers. The scammers appear to be targeting consumer fraud victims who have lost money in past telemarketing scams. The con artists falsely claim they can help victims get their money back. Victims are conned into paying hundreds of dollars and receive nothing in return.

SCAM ALERT : "Annual Minutes" Mailers Targeting Small Businesses Are Back in Arizona

PHOENIX – Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich is warning consumers to be cautious of mailings that claim consumers owe money for an “Annual Minutes” or “Annual Corporate Minutes” requirement for their businesses. The Attorney General’s Office recently received complaints that such solicitations are again being mailed to small businesses in Arizona.

SCAM ALERT: Home Security System Scams

PHOENIX –  Attorney General Mark Brnovich is warning Arizonans to be aware of door-to-door home alarm security scams.  The scam involves using deceptive sales tactics and misleading statements to get consumers to sign up for home alarm contracts or switch home alarm monitoring services.

“Everyone wants to feel safe at home and these scam artists prey on people's desire to keep their families safe,” said Attorney General Mark Brnovich. "Remember, don't give in to high pressure sales tactics.”

SCAM ALERT: Be Cautious When Purchasing Last Minute Gift Cards

PHOENIX - As the countdown to Christmas begins, Attorney General Mark Brnovich is asking Arizonans to be extra cautious when making last-minute gift card purchases.

“Gift cards are one of the most requested items on holiday wish lists. Unfortunately, thieves like gift cards too,” said Attorney General Brnovich. “Con-artists are now able to scan gift card numbers inside the store and drain away balances before you can even use the card.”
