Former City of Kingman Employee Sentenced to Prison after Embezzling $1M

KINGMAN - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced 60-year-old Diane Maxine Richards was sentenced to 9.25 years in prison after stealing more than a million dollars from the City of Kingman. Richards will serve 7 years of probation upon her release from prison.  Richards must also pay $1,113,589 in restitution to the City of Kingman and forfeit her state retirement benefits.

PHOENIX - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced a judge sentenced 19-year-old Meetkumar Desai to 3 years supervised probation for carrying out a reckless cyberattack on 911 emergency call systems in Maricopa County. Authorities will also be able to monitor Desai’s computer while he is on probation.

PHOENIX - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced a State Grand Jury indicted Kevin Michael McKeown on fraud charges related to forging prescriptions to obtain Adderall. McKeown, 40, is facing 24 felony charges including Fraudulent Schemes, Forgery, Taking the Identity of Another, and Obtaining Dangerous Drugs by Fraud.

PHOENIX – Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced inmate Jason Bullard, the ringleader of a property fraud title scheme, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Co-conspirator Rockney Martineau was sentenced to 18 years in prison for his role in the fraud scheme.

PHOENIX - Attorney General Mark Brnovich has concluded the City of Bisbee’s plastic and carryout bag regulations violate state law. Brnovich determined Bisbee’s regulations conflict with state law, which prohibits municipalities from regulating the sale or use of disposable carryout bags by private businesses.

PHOENIX - Attorney General Mark Brnovich and the Arizona Corporation Commission announced a former investment adviser representative pleaded guilty to stealing more than $3 million dollars in client funds. Richard Mark Schmerman, 58, pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Theft and 2 counts of Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices.
