Attorney General Horne Announces $2.1 Billion Settlement With Mortgage Company

Phoenix, AZ (Thursday, December 19, 2013) – Attorney General Tom Horne is today announcing a settlement reached with Ocwen Financial Corporation of Atlanta, Georgia, and its subsidiary, Ocwen Loan Servicing. The company has agreed to a $2.1 billion dollar joint state-federal Settlement with Arizona, 48 additional states and the District of Columbia, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Attorney General Horne Indicts Nine Members Of Money Laundering Operation

Phoenix, AZ (Wednesday, December 18, 2013) - Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is today announcing the indictment of nine members of the Manuel Duarte, Jr. Money Laundering Organization in Tucson.  Manuel Duarte, Jr., Jesus Roberto Urrutia-Ramirez, Justine Calderon, Geraldine Calderon, Alexis Goevanni Cervantes, Kathleen Duarte, Manuel Flores Duarte, Englantina Burrola Duarte, and Glenda Duarte Moreno were all indicted by a Pima County Grand Jury for charges relating to their involvement in the laundering of drug proceeds. 

Attorney General Tom Horne Asks Congress To Fund Anti-Human Trafficking Programs

Phoenix, AZ (Tuesday, December 17, 2013) — Attorney General Tom Horne, along with other state and territorial attorneys general, sent a letter asking Congress to fund the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA). This funding would go towards programs that fight human trafficking in the United States and abroad. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, after drug dealing, trafficking of humans is tied with arms dealing as the second-largest criminal industry in the world, generating about $32 billion each year.

Attorney General Tom Horne Announces Conviction Of Woman Who Faked Leukemia

Phoenix, AZ (Monday, December 16, 2013) - Attorney General Tom Horne is today announcing the conviction of Natasha Lee Leatherman, for committing the criminal offenses of fraudulent schemes and artifices and obtaining a narcotic drug by fraud. Between January 2011 and March 2013, Leatherman defrauded the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) program of tens of thousands of dollars in benefits. Her drug addiction led her to health care facilities in Yavapai County, where she received treatment for a feigned illness. 

Attorney General Horne: Arrests Made In Large-Scale Criminal Operation, Two Suspects Still At Large

Phoenix, AZ (Thursday, December 12, 2013) - Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is today announcing the arrests of six members of the Sanchez Money Laundering Organization in Tucson and New York. Armando Robles Urrea, Conception Suarez-Montijo, Gladis Celaya-Reuelas, Noemi Suarez-Montijo, Frank Babcock, and Maria Yvette Sanchez-Arvizu were arrested. Luis and Julio Villagrana were spotted on Tuesday night, but fled from law enforcement and have not yet been picked up.

Phoenix, AZ (Monday, December 9, 2013) – Attorney General Tom Horne is today announcing the sentencing of Christopher John Clark, of Mesa, AZ, for having knowingly distributed, transported, exhibited, received, sold, purchased, electronically transmitted, possessed, or exchanged a visual depiction in which a minor under 15 years of age is engaged in exploitative exhibition or other sexual conduct.
