Jury Finds Ex-President of Yuma Sewer Company Guilty

(Phoenix, Ariz. – June 12, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced a guilty verdict against Brent H. Weidman, former president of Far West Water & Sewer in Yuma, in a case involving the deaths of two Yuma sewer workers five years ago.

A Yuma County jury found Weidman guilty on four of the five counts he faced: two counts of negligent homicide and two counts of reckless endangerment.

Attorney General Terry Goddard Settles Two Lawsuits For $340,000 with El Paso Natural Gas Company

(Phoenix, Ariz. – June 28, 2006) Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard announced today the filing of two lawsuits against El Paso Natural Gas Company for violations of air quality and hazardous waste regulations.

El Paso owns and operates a natural gas pipeline, which runs partially through Arizona. The settlements were made with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), which is represented by the Attorney General’s Office.

Terry Goddard Announces Settlement with Used Car Dealership

(Phoenix, Ariz. – June 1, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard announced a $54,000 settlement with the owners of Prieto’s Auto Sales, a used car dealership with three locations in Phoenix.

The settlement requires Prieto’s Auto Sales to pay refunds to victims who filed complaints with the Attorney General’s Office, plus attorneys’ fees and investigation costs.
