Terry Goddard Announces Settlement Over Deceptive Home Rescue Program

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Dec. 21, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced a settlement with Deed and Note Traders, Inc. (DNT), a Tucson-based “foreclosure assistance” company. The settlement resolves allegations that its HomeSavers program was deceptive in offering consumers who faced foreclosure a simple way to save their homes.

The settlement requires the company to change its business practices and pay restitution to customers who took part in the HomeSavers program.

Terry Goddard Announces Tobacco Settlement Giving State $790,000

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Dec. 22, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced a settlement with Scandinavian Tobacco Co. and a subsidiary cigarette manufacturer, House of Prince, that resolves a dispute over enforcement of the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement (MSA). Arizona will receive more than $790,000 of the $53.6 million nationwide settlement.

Terry Goddard Announces Money from Fraud Prosecution Will Fund New Crime Lab

(Phoenix, Ariz. -- Dec. 27, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard and Gov. Janet Napolitano today announced that $17.7 million in forfeited funds from a major fraud case will be used to build a new Department of Public Safety Crime Lab in Tucson.

The announcement was made at a press conference this afternoon in Tucson. Joining the Attorney General and Governor were Arizona State Senate President Tim Bee, DPS Director Roger Vanderpool and county sheriffs.
