AZ’s “Cupcake Eating Pink Flamingos” take 5th place in national competition 

(Phoenix, AZ—May 7, 2003) –Liberty School’s “Cupcake Eating Pink Flamingos” will be presented with a trophy on Friday, May 9 in recognition of their fifth place finish in the national LifeSmarts competition in Orlando, Florida.  

The team, consisting of Kelly Busenbark, Sean Fenner, Sara Joyce, Sara Yolland and Captain Kristen Yolland, was coached by Marjorie Burnell.

Attorney General to visit Florence for Dispute Resolution Training on Wednesday 

(Phoenix, Arizona—May 13, 2003) Attorney General Terry Goddard will be in Florence tomorrow for a training session for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), a program of the Attorney General’s Office. He will be at the training site, the Florence School District Office, 350 S. Main St., at 3:00 p.m. 

Governor Janet Napolitano recently proclaimed May 12-16 as Arizona Alternative Dispute Resolution Week for the state.

(Phoenix, AZ—May 20, 2003) Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced that Arizona has joined with the Federal Trade Commission and other attorneys general in a national effort to thwart fundraising fraud. The effort, called “Operation Phoney Philanthropy”, is a joint law enforcement and public education campaign.

(Phoenix, Arizona—May 21, 2003)  Attorney General Terry Goddard today condemned the shooting of Avtar Singh Cheira as a racist attack that will not be tolerated. Cheira, a Sikh, was gunned down in north Phoenix by attackers who shouted “Go back where you belong” before they shot him.

(Phoenix, May 22, 2003)–In honor of National Missing Children’s Day (May 25) Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard joins the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in encouraging all Arizona businesses to develop procedures for reuniting children with their families when they become lost while in a retail store, shopping mall or museum.
