U.S. District Court of Arizona Denies Meadows Motion to Remove Case from Arizona State Court to Federal District Court

PHOENIX – Today, the U.S. District Court of Arizona declined to assume jurisdiction over the State of Arizona’s criminal prosecution of Mr. Meadows under 28 U.S.C. §§ 1442 and 1455. The matter will be remanded back to the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County. In today's ruling, the Honorable Judge John J. Tuchi stated:

"The Court finds that Mr. Meadows fails to present good cause for his untimely filing of his Notice of Removal, and that in any event, an evaluation on the merits yields that he fails to demonstrate that the conduct charged in the state’s prosecution relates to his former color of office as Chief of Staff to the President. The Court therefore will remand this matter to the state court."

The Arizona Attorney General's Office has no additional comments to make today.
