(Phoenix, Ariz. – Aug. 23, 2007) Attorney General Terry Goddard today reminded consumers, especially parents and other caretakers, to pay close attention to the numerous toy recalls announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission this summer. The Commission has issued 17 toy recalls since June 1.
Goddard recognizes the difficulty of tracking the various toys that have been recalled. In an effort to help parents find those recall notices, his Office has added links to all federal recall notices on its Web site at www.azag.gov.
Goddard recommends that parents and caretakers check the site periodically to keep current on recalls of toys and other products their children regularly come in contact with. Additionally, parents should make sure their child care facilities are vigilant about checking for and disposing of all recalled products.
Recent recalls include the following toys:
- SpongeBob SquarePants™ Character Address Books and Journals (Martin Designs, Inc.). Recalled due to violation of lead paint standards.
- Thomas and Friends, Curious George and Other Spinning Tops and Tin Pails (Schylling Associates). Recalled due to violation of lead paint standards.
- Children’s Divine Inspiration Charm Bracelets (Buy-Rite Designs, Inc.). Recalled due to risk of lead exposure.
- TOBY & ME Jewelry Sets (TOBY N.Y.C.). Recalled due to risk of lead exposure.
- Various Polly Pocket Play Sets (Mattel, Inc.). Recalled because the dolls and accessories have small internal magnets that can come loose and pose a choking hazard.
- Doggie Day Care™ Magnetic Toys (Mattel, Inc.). Recalled because the toys have small internal magnets that can come loose and pose a choking hazard.
- Barbie and Tanner™ Magnetic Toys (Mattel, Inc.). Recalled because the dolls have small internal magnets that can come loose and pose a choking hazard.
- “Sarge” Die Cast Toy Cars (Mattel, Inc.). Recalled due to violation of Lead Safety Standard.
- Batman™ and One Piece™ Magnetic Action Figure Sets (Mattel, Inc.). Recalled because the toys have small internal magnets that can come loose and pose a choking hazard.
- Licensed Character Toys (Fisher-Price). Recalled due to lead poisoning hazard.

Consumers who own recalled products should follow all given instructions and contact the relevant agencies or corporations as soon as possible. In many cases, a replacement or refund for the product is available.
