Statement from Terry Goddard on the Death of Senator Edward Kennedy

(Phoenix, Ariz. -- Aug. 26, 2009) Attorney General Terry Goddard today made the following statement on the passing of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy:

"Our nation has lost a great statesman with the death of Ted Kennedy. He has long been one of the most effective members of the United States Senate, in large part because of his ability to step across the aisle and find common ground with senators holding widely different political views. Kennedy was often called the "Liberal Lion of the Senate," but it was his skill at bipartisan negotiation, which drew on his friendly approachability and the respect he showed others, that was the hallmark of his legislative success. As the last surviving brother of a famous generation of Kennedys, his passing marks the end of an era. My thoughts today are with the Kennedy family."
