Defendant Allegedly Wanted Kidnappers to Kill Ex-Girlfriends Dog
SCOTTSDALE - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced today that Jay Borker, a 65-year-old Scottsdale resident, has been indicted and charged with Conspiracy, Money Laundering, Attempted Kidnapping, and Attempted Second Degree Burglary.
Borker is accused of hiring and paying two men $15,000 in August 2021 to wait for his ex-girlfriend in order to grab her, tie her up, and then take and kill her dog. In reality, Borker had actually hired two undercover detectives with the Tempe Police Department. Borker allegedly indicated that he believed killing his ex-girlfriend’s dog would make her suffer.
Borker was arrested and a $5,000,000 cash bond was set. Defendant Borker posted the cash bond and is currently on electronic monitoring. An initial pretrial conference is set for January 20, 2022.
The Tempe Police Department investigated this case.
Assistant Attorney General Shawn Steinberg is prosecuting the case.
The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
