Prescription Drug Take Back Event and Document Shred-A-Thon this Saturday in Mesa Arizona Hosted by Attorney General's Office, AARP Arizona, and Mesa PD

MESA - October 26 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Please join the Arizona Attorney General's Office, AARP Arizona, and the Mesa Police Department on Saturday, October 26 to dispose of your unused prescription drugs and shred your personal and private documents.

This free event will take place at the Mesa Police Department, Red Mountain District located at 4333 E. University Dr., Mesa. The event will run from 8 am until 12 noon (or until the trucks are filled).

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue affecting Arizona communities. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

Please note there is a five (5) box limit for shredding.

The free event is open to the public.

Approximately 100 Drug Take Back events are taking place across Arizona this Saturday. To find additional prescription drug collection sites and hours of operation near you, please visit the DEA’s Take Back website at https://takebackday.dea.gov/.
