Peoria Police Sergeant Indicted, Accused of Fraud and Theft

PHOENIX – Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced a State Grand Jury indicted Peoria Police Department Sergeant Jon Meck on charges for fraudulent schemes and artifices and theft from the Arizona Tactical Officers Association (ATOA).

Between September 1, 2009, and August 2018, Meck served on the board of ATOA as its treasurer. ATOA is a nonprofit organization comprised of members from police agencies throughout the State of Arizona and designed to provide those members with tactical training. An investigation revealed that beginning in February 2012, Meck allegedly used the organization’s account to make personal purchases not authorized by the ATOA board.

This case was investigated by the Attorney General’s Office.

Meck is currently on leave with the City of Peoria.

All defendants are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
