Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Exploitation Charges

(Phoenix, Ariz. - August 12, 2005)  Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced a plea agreement with Anthony Leon Hebert, 42, of Anthem. Hebert pled guilty to one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and one count of Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, before Judge Eddward J. Ballinger in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Hebert was indicted in April for possessing child pornography. Detectives from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s computer crime unit conducted an investigation and obtained a search warrant for Hebert’s residence. The charges arose from digital images found on Hebert’s computer.

Hebert faces 10 to 20 years in prison and lifetime probation that would run consecutive to the prison sentence.  He is a registered sex offender currently on probation on child molestation charges from Washington State. As a result of this plea, his probation in Washington is likely to be revoked.

Hebert is scheduled to be sentenced October 20. Assistant Attorney General Gail Thackeray prosecuted this case.
