Man Indicted on Suspicion of Trafficking Illicit Drugs

PHOENIX – Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced today that Jose Luis Montoya Miranda has been indicted on one count of Conspiracy, one count of Illegally Conducting an enterprise, one count of Transportation of a Narcotic Drug for sale (Fentanyl) in an Amount over the Statutory Threshold, two counts Possession of a Narcotic Drug for sale (Fentanyl) in an Amount over the Statutory Threshold, one count Possession of a Narcotic Drug for Sale (Heroin) in an Amount over the Statutory Threshold, one count Possession of a Dangerous Drug (Methamphetamine) For Sale in an Amount over the Statutory Threshold, and one count Misconduct Involving Weapons. 
 
On May 11, 2022, law enforcement arrested Montoya Miranda on suspicion of trafficking illicit drugs. Law enforcement located approximately 140,000 fentanyl pills, over 11 pounds of fentanyl powder, 2.11 pounds of heroin, 2.9 pounds of methamphetamine, and a handgun. 
 
The charges are based on an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
 
This case is being prosecuted by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
 
All Defendants are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
