Free Document Shred-A-Thon & Prescription Drug Take-Back Community Event This Weekend in Tucson

What: The Arizona Attorney General’s Office (AGO), the Pima County Sheriff's Department, Leman Academy of Excellence, and AARP are hosting a free Shred-a-Thon and Prescription Drug Take-Back community event this Saturday, September 24th, in Tucson.

There is no need to leave your car!  The public can stay in their vehicle and is asked to place documents requiring shredding in the trunk of their car prior to arriving.

There is a five-box max limit for shredded documents.

Examples of items not accepted (but not limited to): binders, binder clips, electronics, inhalers, lotions or liquids, aerosols, needles, and hydrogen peroxide. 

When: Saturday, September 24, from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (or until trucks are full).

Where: Leman Academy of Excellence, 10100 E. Golf Links Rd., Tucson, AZ 85730

Why: Shredding your personal or sensitive documents is an important step to protecting your identity and your financial information.

Properly disposing of old prescription drugs is key to keeping opioids and other dangerous medications out of the hands of youth and reducing the risks of abuse.

AGO Free Shred-A-Thons:

The AGO regularly hosts free Shred-A-Thons across the state throughout the year. Many of the events also provide a prescription drug take-back component.

Last year, the AGO assisted in helping Arizona communities destroy 162,750 pounds of sensitive documents and dispose of nearly 780 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs.
