(Phoenix – July 8, 2003) Attorney General Terry Goddard announced the indictment of Carl Arnal, 44, 3141 W. Stoneybrook Trail, Tucson for four counts of theft and one count of conducting a fraudulent scheme. The indictment charges Mr. Arnal with stealing approximately $660,000 from clients (La Hermosa Church, Freeway Enterprises, Inc., Su Casa Produce, and Red Dog Rebuilders) through his business, Consortium of Public Adjusters, 2200 E. River Rd., Suite 120, Tucson. In this case, it is alleged the insurance companies paid substantial claims to the various clients and Arnal deposited the checks into his bank account, but did not forward the money to the client or use the money to repair the damaged buildings. Mr. Arnal entered a plea of not guilty in Superior Court today and his case was assigned to Judge Ted Borek.
If convicted Arnal could be sentenced to as much as 23 years in prison and ordered to pay restitution.
