AZ’s “Cupcake Eating Pink Flamingos” Take 5th Place in National Competition

(Phoenix, AZ—May 7, 2003) –Liberty School’s “Cupcake Eating Pink Flamingos” will be presented with a trophy on Friday, May 9 in recognition of their fifth place finish in the national LifeSmarts competition in Orlando, Florida.  

The team, consisting of Kelly Busenbark, Sean Fenner, Sara Joyce, Sara Yolland and Captain Kristen Yolland, was coached by Marjorie Burnell.  

Diane Low of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office will make the presentation at the school, which is in Queen Creek. 

LifeSmarts is a consumer knowledge competition sponsored by the Consumer Protection and Advocacy Section of the Attorney General's Office, along with the National Consumers League. Team players compete via the Internet, answering questions that test their knowledge of personal finance, health and safety, environment, technology, and consumer rights & responsibilities.  

“We are pleased with the excellent showing of our Arizona team from Liberty School,” said Attorney General Terry Goddard. “The competition is a great way for teens to learn about the marketplace and become consumer savvy. Fifth in the nation is a terrific finish.”
