Arizona Attorney General Brnovich and Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt Host Delegation of Attorneys General from Mexico

Phoenix - Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich and Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt are hosting a delegation of Attorneys General from various Mexican states in Phoenix today.

Baja California Attorney General Perla Ibarra Leyva, Guanajuato Attorney General Carlos Zamarripa Aguirre and Sonora Attorney General Carlos Navarro Sugich traveled to Phoenix to meet with the two US Attorneys General to discuss areas of collaboration between their States. The group renewed commitments to work together to support the rule of law in both countries, particularly as Mexico transitions to an adversarial system of justice in the coming year.

The bilateral relationship between the State Attorney General Offices in the US and Mexico has long been important to the success of both countries’ efforts to combat transnational organized crime. The Attorneys General from both countries have been formally collaborating for more than seven years, working to ensure justice for their communities.

“The ongoing dialogue with our counterparts in Mexico is critical in developing long-term public safety strategies and successful law enforcement collaborations between our countries,” said Attorney General Brnovich.

“Cross-border coordination and communication remains crucial to responding to and combating transnational crimes in a unified manner,” said Attorney General Laxalt. “On behalf of Nevada, I welcome collaboration from our law enforcement partners in Mexico, and look forward to continuing efforts to further the rule of law.”

"It is of great importance for the US and Mexican State Attorney General Offices to collaborate on topics of shared concern including protecting our citizens  and enforcing the laws of our states," said Baja California Attorney General Perla Ibarra Leyva. "We know that crime crosses borders. Only through cooperation and open dialogue such as this exchange between my colleagues and I can we address the issues that affect both of our countries. "
