Terry Goddard Helping Coordinate National Effort to Reduce Smoking by Youth

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Oct. 16, 2007) Attorney General Terry Goddard is meeting today with fellow state Attorneys General, industry representatives, health advocates and educators for the Third Triennial Tobacco Conference being held in Seattle, Wash.

This conference is required under the Master Settlement Agreement (MSA) to evaluate the success of the MSA and to coordinate efforts by the Attorneys General and participating tobacco manufacturers to curb youth smoking. The meetings began at 9:30 a.m. today at the Seattle Downtown Westin Hotel.

What: Third Triennial Tobacco Conference The conference will focus on several issues relating to the MSA’s stated goal of “reducing underage tobacco use by discouraging such use and by preventing youth access to Tobacco Products.”
