AG Horne To Recognize Youths for Their Efforts To Combat Tobacco Sales To Minors

PHOENIX (Friday, August 5, 2011) -- Attorney General Tom Horne will officially recognize the efforts of 31 Arizona youths who are part of the Arizona Youth Tobacco Counterstrike Program prior to Saturday’s Arizona Diamondbacks game at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Among those being recognized is Andres Godinez, who has accumulated an impressive 149 hours as a minor volunteer for the program, and whose service is coming to an end as he approaches his 18th birthday. He will receive the Top Achievement Award for his dedication.

Counterstrike volunteers are minors who feign an attempt to purchase tobacco products at retail establishments in an ongoing joint effort with the Arizona Department of Health Services to enforce laws preventing anyone under the age of 18 from buying tobacco.
