Attorney General Mayes Secures Prison Sentence for Phoenix Drug Trafficker Caught with 50 Pounds of Meth, Thousands of Fentanyl Pills
PHOENIX – Attorney General Kris Mayes announced today that Francisco Evans-Gomez has been sentenced to six years in prison, followed by three years of supervised probation, for drug trafficking and weapons offenses.
A long-term investigation by the Arizona Attorney General's Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Phoenix Police Department identified Evans-Gomez as a major drug trafficker. Investigators determined he had repeatedly helped move large quantities of drugs to customers, including tens of thousands of dollars' worth of cocaine, and had collected drug proceeds.
On April 7, 2026, officers watched Evans-Gomez receive a large shipment of drugs from a source. When they contacted him, they seized a bag containing approximately 50 pounds of methamphetamine. A subsequent search of his home uncovered:
- Approximately one pound of cocaine
- Five ounces of heroin
- Nearly 3,500 fentanyl pills
- Six firearms
Mr. Evans-Gomez was indicted on April 13, 2026. On August 11, 2026, Evans-Gomez pleaded guilty to Conspiracy, Possession of a Dangerous Drug for Sale, and Misconduct Involving Weapons. He was sentenced on September 22, 2026. In addition to his prison term and probation, he was ordered to pay more than $5,000 in fines and to forfeit all weapons and vehicles seized during the investigation.
"Removing 50 pounds of meth and thousands of fentanyl pills from our streets makes Arizona safer," said Attorney General Mayes. "Traffickers who put lives at risk will be held accountable."
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Brett George of the Drug and Racketeering Enforcement Section.
