Attorney General Mayes Partners with Local Law Enforcement Agencies to Host ‘Missing in Arizona’ Awareness Event

GLENDALE – Today, Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that next month her office will partner with the Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office, and other local law enforcement agencies in Arizona to host a ‘Missing in Arizona’ awareness event on October 18th in Glendale.  

“I’m proud to partner with other Arizona law enforcement agencies to bring awareness to the issue of Arizonans who have gone missing,” said Attorney General Kris Mayes. “We hope the event will connect Arizonans with resources and support to find their long-term missing loved ones.”

"Prior Missing in Arizona Day activities have brought resolutions to nearly 50 families, and we hope our efforts this year can resolve additional missing persons cases now, and for years to come." 

The event will be held on Saturday, October 18th, from 10 am to 4pm at Arizona State University’s West Valley Campus. Families and friends affected by the disappearance of a loved one are invited to attend the event. It will be free, family-friendly, and open to the public.  

Officials will be on hand to take reports and gather information and identifiers from families of missing persons. DNA samples can be collected from close family members to help create a profile for the missing person. Families are encouraged to bring photographs, medical records, dental records, and fingerprints of their missing loved ones. 

A candle-lighting ceremony to honor the missing will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by a support group for affected family members, which will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Participation in the support group requires an advance reservation.
