Phoenix Man Sentenced to Prison for Selling False IDs

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Sept. 13, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced the sentencing of José Federico Tlazalo, 20, of Phoenix, after he pleaded guilty to participating in an illegal enterprise that offered forged documents for sale. Tlazalo was arrested in April following an investigation by the Arizona Fraudulent Identification Task Force.

He was sentenced in Maricopa County Superior Court to 3.5 years in prison and required to pay $200 in restitution and forfeit $1,214, computer equipment and a handgun. Assistant Attorney General Todd Lawson prosecuted this case.

PayPal Agrees to Improve Customer Information

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Sept. 28, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced that PayPal, Inc. has agreed to a settlement that resolves concerns regarding some of the company’s business practices.

PayPal is an Internet business which allows the transfer of money between email users, avoiding traditional paper methods such as checks and money orders. PayPal also performs payment processing for e-commerce vendors, auction sites and other corporate users, for which they charge a fee. The company also agreed to pay $1.7 million as part of the settlement.

Terry Goddard Will Join Council Member Greg Stanton At Parent Forum to Discuss Internet Safety

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Sept. 19, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard will join Phoenix Council member Greg Stanton at a parent forum Wednesday evening to discuss the importance of Internet Safety. The forum will be held at Ingleside Middle School, 5402 E. Osborn in Phoenix, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Terry Goddard to Receive LULAC Community Service Award

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Sept. 14, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard will receive a Community Service Award from the LULAC Council 1057 on Friday, Sept. 15, in Tucson.

Goddard will be recognized with other community leaders at LULAC’s 16th Annual Community Service Awards Luncheon. Goddard will be recognized for his work and dedication to improving the quality of life for all Arizona residents. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Inn Suites Hotel Downtown, 475 N. Granada, Tucson.
