Terry Goddard to Receive LULAC Community Service Award

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Sept. 14, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard will receive a Community Service Award from the LULAC Council 1057 on Friday, Sept. 15, in Tucson.

Goddard will be recognized with other community leaders at LULAC’s 16th Annual Community Service Awards Luncheon. Goddard will be recognized for his work and dedication to improving the quality of life for all Arizona residents. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Inn Suites Hotel Downtown, 475 N. Granada, Tucson.

Following the awards luncheon, Goddard will promote Internet safety when he meets with 100 seventh- and eighth-graders at Sierra Middle School at 1:30 p.m.

His presentation will emphasize precautions young people should take with social network Web sites such as myspace.com and facebook.com. The presentation will include experiences of teens who have been victims of Internet exploitation. The Internet Safety program was developed by NetSmartz and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Sierra Middle School is located at 5801 S. Del Moral Blvd., Tucson. This presentation is open to the media. Goddard will be available for interviews following the event.
