Terry Goddard Presents Spirit of Compassion Awards

(Phoenix, Ariz. – April 26, 2007) Attorney General Terry Goddard today presented his office’s “Spirit of Compassion” award to three Phoenix residents who stepped forward to help crime victims. The awards were presented at the Attorney General’s Office Victims’ Rights Week recognition ceremony.

The awards were presented to Dr. Louis Core and Dr. Bradley Sandvik, both Phoenix dentists, and to Doug Stegman, owner of Stegman Dental Labs in Phoenix.

Core, Sandvik and Stegman offered their services to several patients of Dr. Paul Schreiter after it became public that Schreiter was the target of a fraud and securities investigation. Schreiter has pleaded guilty to one count of sale of unregistered securities and one count of transactions by unregistered dealers and salesmen. Both are felony charges. Schreiter will be sentenced next month.

Core, Sandvik and Stegman helped more than 15 patients, most of whom needed complicated dental procedures, and provided more than $120,000 worth of dental services and materials.

“These three men simply did what they felt was the right thing to do,” Goddard said. “I’m grateful for the assistance they provided to these crime victims.”

Goddard also honored Budget Analyst Jim Chapman and Assistant Attorneys General Catherine Plumb, Patty Nigro, Michael O’Toole and Kent Cattani for their significant contributions to victims’ rights.
