Terry Goddard Praises Passage of School Receivership Bill

(Phoenix, Ariz. – May 4, 2005)  Attorney General Terry Goddard today applauded the State Legislature for adopting the School Receivership Bill (SB1476).  This legislation allows the State Board of Education to appoint a receiver if it finds a school district has been financially mismanaged.

“This legislation ensures our children continue to receive an education while the financial situation is resolved,” Goddard said.  “It provides an effective tool to take over school districts where public funds are being mismanaged.”

Goddard brought together a wide range of education experts to craft this legislation.

The bill will be sent to Governor Janet Napolitano for her signature.
