Terry Goddard Opens Satellite Offices in San Luis and Somerton

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Oct. 12, 2005)  Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced the opening of the newest Attorney General Satellite Offices located in San Luis and Somerton.

Goddard will visit the offices and greet volunteers and located elected officials during a trip to the area on Friday, Oct. 14. Goddard will be at the San Luis office at 11:30 a.m. and at the Somerton office at 12:30 p.m.  Both events are open to the media.

The Attorney General’s Office has satellite offices throughout Arizona to provide residents with convenient locations where they can visit to file discrimination or consumer fraud complaints. The satellite offices are staffed with volunteers trained to take complaints in English and Spanish. The volunteers are trained to take discrimination complaints regarding employment, housing, disability, public accommodations and voting rights.  The office will also provide information on consumer fraud, identity theft, civil rights, and other topics.

“These satellite offices are part of our effort to provide the community with places people can visit without having to come down to the Attorney General’s Office,” Goddard said.  “The atmosphere is less official, and complaints at the Satellite Offices are forwarded to the Attorney General’s Consumer and Civil Rights staff for further review and action.”

The San Luis satellite office is located at the Fernando Padilla Community Center, 800 E. Juan Sanchez Blvd.  The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, please call 1.866.358.6661.

The Somerton satellite office is located at Casa Moreno, 303 W. Spring Street. The office days and hours vary. Consumers interested in visiting should call ahead at 1.866.358.6661.
