Terry Goddard to Open the 2004 Techathalon

(Phoenix, Ariz. – October 15, 2004)  Attorney General Terry Goddard will welcome more than 175 participants to the second annual Techathalon on Saturday, October 16 at 9:00 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale-Hartley & Ruth Barker Branch.

Participants from throughout Arizona and parts of California will compete in four different technology areas including graphic design, presentation design, technology knowledge and computer troubleshooting and technology knowledge.  The students will work in teams to produce the best possible projects.

Mr. Goddard will also host an information forum on Netsmartz, an Internet Safety program for children.  Parents, educators and community members are invited to attend this forum beginning at 9:30 a.m.

“Teaching children to be safe while surfing the Internet is important,” Goddard said.  “My office has partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs Arizona Alliance in an effort to educate communities on Internet safety.”

Participating students will be put into three age groups and will work together on challenges in the different categories.  Clubs will compete against each other for the Techathalon medals and championship titles.
