Terry Goddard Honors Assistant Attorney General Ted Noyes

(Phoenix, Ariz. – May 17, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard today presented the first annual Michael C. Cudahy Award for Mentoring to former Court of Appeals Judge and current Assistant Attorney General E.G. “Ted” Noyes.

Noyes was recognized for his willingness to share his insight and knowledge with other attorneys who need direction or a second opinion. Noyes is a prosecutor in the Criminal Division where he works mainly on fraud and public corruption cases.

“Ted’s counsel is always thoughtful, well-reasoned, and based on sound law and common sense,” Goddard said. “His wise counsel has helped many less-experienced prosecutors in ways that would have made Mike Cudahy proud.”

Noyes joined the Attorney General’s Office in December 2003 after serving as a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge for nine years and an Arizona Court of Appeals Judge for 11 years.

Goddard presented the award today during the 2006 Attorney General’s Office Awards Day ceremony held at Phoenix College.

The award honors Cudahy’s 25 years of service to the Attorney General’s Office – including a decade as head of the Criminal Division – and his legacy as an outstanding mentor. He died in January at age 57 after a long battle with cancer.
