Terry Goddard Announces Indictments in Pinal County Fraud, ID Theft Case

(Phoenix, Ariz. -- July 8, 2009) Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced indictments of four Pinal County residents on a long list of fraud, forgery, ID theft and drug charges.

The defendants are Albert Robbs, 51; Larry Garcia, 47; Cheryl Ann Parsons, 33, and her mother, Carol Louise Lewis, 61. All four live in Florence.

Robbs, who worked in the Pinal County Recorder's Office, is accused of stealing checks from the office, which he then gave to Garcia to pay for drugs. Garcia allegedly passed the checks on to Parsons, who used them to produce forged checks and fake IDs. Robbs was indicted on 46 counts that include trafficking in the identity of another person and assisting a criminal syndicate. Garcia faces 12 counts, including possession of dangerous and narcotic drugs for sale and conspiracy to commit trafficking in the identity of another person.

Parsons was indicted on 85 counts that include forgery, possession of a forgery device, aggravated taking identity of another person, possession of dangerous and narcotic drugs for sale and fraudulent schemes and artifices. Lewis faces eight counts, including forgery, fraudulent schemes and artifices and assisting a criminal syndicate.

All of the offenses are alleged to have taken place between June and December of 2008. This case was investigated by the Pinal County Sheriff's Office and is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Timothy Linnins.
