Terry Goddard Announces Charges against Two Women in Prison Escape

(Phoenix, Ariz. -- Aug. 9, 2010)  Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced that Claudia Washburn of Payson and Diana Joy Glattfelder of Prescott Valley have been charged with hindering prosecution and conspiring to commit escape in the July 30 escape of three convicts from a private prison near Kingman.

The complaint alleges that Glattfelder and Washburn provided the escapees with “money, supplies and/or transportation” in violation of Arizona law and with the intent to hinder their apprehension and prosecution. Washburn is the mother of escapee John McCluskey, and Glattfelder is his ex-wife.

McCluskey, Tracy Province and Daniel Renwick escaped with the alleged assistance of Casslyn Welch.  Renwick was captured in Colorado the day after the escape.  Province was apprehended early this morning in Meeteetse, Wyo., about 60 miles from Yellowstone National Park.

Province and McCluskey are suspected in the murders of an Oklahoma couple whose charred bodies were found in a camper in Santa Rosa, N.M., over the weekend.

McCluskey and Welch remain at large and presumed to be in or near Wyoming, armed and extremely dangerous.

"I am pleased to assist the U.S. Marshals Office in this investigation and congratulate them on the arrest of Tracy Province," Goddard said.  “We will remain vigilant in our efforts until the last escapee has been caught.  We will use all legal tools at our disposal against anyone who knowingly assists these dangerous convicts in any manner.”

This case is being handled by Assistant Attorney General Natalie Huddleston.
