Public Invited to Meet the Attorney General and Pick Up Consumer Information Attorney General opens satellite office in Sun City to Help Senior Citizens with Consumer Complaints

(Phoenix, AZ – September 19, 2003)  Attorney General Terry Goddard will officially open his Sun City Satellite Office on Thursday, October 9 at 10:00 a.m.

The satellite office will serve as a repository for information on consumer rights, telemarketing fraud, and consumer scams. As well, specially trained volunteers will provide consumer complaint forms and offer some assistance in completing those forms.

“By bringing the office into the community, we hope that the word about scams and unscrupulous businesses will spread quicker than the con artists can. That way, not only will we help those victimized, but hopefully prevent others in the community from becoming victims,” said Attorney General Goddard.

The office, which will be totally staffed by volunteers, will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Fairway Recreation Center, 10600 W. Peoria Avenue, Sun City. The volunteers have all received consumer fraud complaint intake training from the Attorney General’s Office…and most have a public service background.

The Attorney General’s popular Life Care Planning documents and the Senior Citizen Protection Manual will be available at the office and for those attending the opening ceremonies on October 9.

The opening is free and open to the public. It will be held in the Music Room of the Fairway Recreation Center. Questions can be directed to Dana Browning at the Attorney General’s Office, 602-542-2079.
