Phoenix Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

PHOENIX – Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced 45-year-old Michael Mattox, of Phoenix, was sentenced to 20 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.  Mattox, appearing before Judge John Hannah in Maricopa County Superior Court, was also sentenced to two consecutive terms of lifetime probation, and will be required to register as a sex offender.

In October of 2017, Mattox posted images to an internet message board and posted messages that referenced he had child pornography to trade.  In April of 2018, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), obtained a search warrant for the residence of Mattox.  HSI located digital devices in Mattox’s bedroom that were forensically analyzed.  The analysis located images and video of child pornography that were downloaded from the internet and images of child pornography that were created by Mattox.  Investigators learned from Mattox that he had been downloading child pornography for years.  This case was investigated by HSI and Phoenix Police Department.

Assistant Attorney General Joseph Waters prosecuted the case.
