Media Advisory: Terry Goddard to Host 2010 Peace Officers' Memorial Events

(Phoenix, Ariz. - April 30, 2010) Attorney General Terry Goddard will host events May 1-3 to honor Arizona peace officers killed in the line of duty over the past year.

The fallen officers being honored this year are:

    Officer Chris Marano of the Arizona Department of Public Safety
    Lieutenant Eric Shuhandler of the Gilbert Police Department
    Officer David Wayne Johnson of the Phoenix Police Department

Charity Golf Tournament
The ninth annual golf tournament will be held Saturday, May 1.  The proceeds will benefit the Arizona Peace Officers' Memorial Service and the upkeep of the memorial monument.

When: Saturday, May 1
Check-in from 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

5K Run/Walk
The Annual Peace Officers' Memorial Run/Walk will be held Sunday, May 2.  Pre-run events will start at 7 a.m., followed by the 5K run/walk at 7:30 a.m.  More than 200 runners are expected to participate.  The proceeds will benefit the Arizona Peace Officers Memorial Service and the upkeep of the memorial monument.  Attorney General Terry Goddard will be kicking off the event.

37th Annual Arizona Peace Officers' Memorial Service
The 37th Annual Arizona Peace Officers' Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 3. 

The service will take place at Wesley Bolin Plaza in Phoenix.  Goddard, chairman of the Arizona Peace Officers' Memorial Board, will be joined by Governor Jan Brewer and representatives from law enforcement agencies across Arizona.

The service commemorates Arizona Peace Officers Memorial Day and commences Arizona Peace Officers' Memorial Week honoring officers killed in the line of duty.
