(Phoenix, Ariz. – Oct. 26, 2005) A Maricopa County Superior Court jury found three Glendale residents guilty of charges stemming from the manufacture of methamphetamine and child exposure to the toxic drug. The verdicts were announced Monday.
The defendants, Mickey C. Rosenquist, 31; Maren L. Fowler, 30; and Richard S. Stephenson,31, appeared to live together in a Glendale home along with Rosenquist’s and Fowler’s sons who were under five years old. In April 2004, police found a meth lab in the home’s garage along with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the house.
“We continue to see home meth labs littering our neighborhoods,” Goddard said. “We need to stop the proliferation of meth labs, which is why I support the reintroduction of tougher legislation that would make it more difficult for meth cookers to obtain the key ingredient, pseudoephedrine, used to manufacture this toxic drug.”
The jury found the three defendants guilty on the following charges:
- Rosenquist was found guilty of manufacturing a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless child abuse. He faces a maximum of 37.25 years in prison.
- Stephenson was convicted of possession of chemicals and equipment to manufacture a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He faces a maximum of 16.5 years in prison.
- Fowler was convicted of negligent child abuse. She faces a maximum of two years in prison.
A sentencing date has not been set. Assistant Attorney General Julie Swingle prosecuted this case.
