Glendale Couple Indicted for Identity Theft

(Phoenix, Ariz. – Sept. 1, 2005)  Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced the indictment of Kent Arnel Young, 45, and Pamela Louise Young, 40, both of Glendale, on fraud and identity theft charges.

They were indicted by the State Grand Jury on one count of Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices, five counts of Taking the Identity of Another, and one count of Unlawful Possession of an Access Device.

Following an investigation by the U.S. Postal Service, a search warrant revealed that Young and Young had more than 200 receipts from Ashley Furniture stores.  The receipts had personal identifying information of the store’s customers, including names, credit card and debit card numbers.

The defendants are accused of using some of these credit card and debit card numbers to purchase items over the Internet.

The defendants are scheduled to be arraigned in Maricopa County Superior Court on September 7 at 8:30 a.m.  If convicted of all charges, the defendants face up to 18 years in prison.  Assistant Attorney General Todd Lawson is prosecuting this case.
