Certified Nursing Assistant Sentenced for Theft

(Phoenix, Ariz. – August 19, 2005)  Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced the sentencing of Charlene Elizabeth Sowles, 31, of Phoenix, who pleaded guilty to one count Theft.

Sowles was indicted by the State Grand Jury in April on several counts of theft and fraud.  She worked for a Phoenix area nurse registry that served the Sun City area. While working at a Sun City nursing home, Sowles stole and cashed checks belonging to two residents.  She also made unauthorized charges on their credit cards.  

Sowles was ordered to serve three-and-a-half years in prison and pay $9,720 in restitution to the two nursing home residents. In return for the guilty plea, other charges were dismissed. Assistant Attorney General Steve Duplissis prosecuted this case.
