Attorney General Brnovich Continues Defense of Arizona’s Laws Challenged by Left-Wing Groups

PHOENIX – Attorney General Mark Brnovich is continuing his defense of Arizona laws passed by the legislature that are being challenged by outside left-wing groups. The Arizona Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has filed an appeal in Arizona School Boards Association Inc v. Arizona at the Arizona Supreme Court to uphold four budget-related bills after a lower court judge struck them down. Additionally, General Brnovich will appeal a ruling that stopped an Arizona pro-life law from going into effect.

“There is an orchestrated attempt by outside left-wing groups to undermine Arizona’s lawfully enacted statutes in order to push their radical ideas,” said Attorney General Mark Brnovich. “I will continue to defend laws passed by our state legislature and uphold the will of Arizona families."

The AGO is asking the Arizona Supreme Court to accept transfer of ASBA v. Arizona from the Arizona Court of Appeals. Additionally, the AGO asked for a stay, which the Arizona Supreme Court denied. However, the AGO is hopeful the Arizona Supreme Court will accept jurisdiction in the case as soon as possible because Arizonans deserve consistently and certainty in the law.

Isaacson v. Brnovich

Additionally, Attorney General Mark Brnovich will appeal a decision in Isaacson v. Brnovich after a Federal District Judge struck down portions of Arizona’s pro-life law, S.B. 1457.

“Our job is to defend the law and we will continue to do so," said Attorney General Mark Brnovich. "Whether it's pushing back against unconstitutional mandates or defending our laws against pro-abortion activists, we will continue to lead the charge and stand up for Arizonans.”
