AG Horne Announces Felony Charges Against Gary Husk and Husk Partners, Inc.

Phoenix, AZ (Thursday, October 10, 2013)  -- Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is today announcing the unsealing of an indictment of Gary Husk and his company Husk Partners, Inc. for Conspiracy to Make Prohibited Political Contributions and seven counts of Prohibited Contributions. Of the seven counts of Prohibited Contributions, six are directed at Gary Husk and Husk Partners, Inc. and one is directed solely at Gary Husk.

In the course of a separate high-profile investigation, prosecutors discovered that over more than four years Gary Husk and his company directed its employees and in some cases, their spouses, to make contributions to various political campaigns with the promise of reimbursement. Once the contributions were made, the employees were reimbursed from Husk Partners, Inc. or directly from Gary Husk, which often coded the reimbursements under the firm’s account as an “office expense.”

Contributions made by Husk Partners Inc. employees included several state and local campaigns. It is important to note that there is no indication any of the campaigns that received donations knew what was happening.

Gary Husk was served with a summons to appear in Maricopa County Superior Court on Thursday, October 17, 2013.

A copy of the indictment is attached.
